This family had been in their house for 20 years and they loved their location and neighbors. They had lived with a 1950’s kitchen and a tiny 1920’s basement. They knew that adding on would enable them to stay for the next 20 years.
The addition has a master suite on the 2nd floor, an expanded kitchen and mudroom on the main floor, and a rec room in the basement.
The family had a passion for Mid Century Modernism. Our cabinetry design, lighting and colors were selected to invoke classic Mid Century themes.
Warm mahogany walls surround the soaking tub. Cool glass tiles line the shower.
The basement rec room is lined with birch paneling—another classic Mid Century look. The new basement is a few steps lower that the original basement, allowing for taller ceilings.
Polished concrete floors and white painted joists make a clean look in the old 1920's basement. The stair wall was opened up with a steel and cable railing.
The master suite is spacious and serene.
Phillips Garden designed and installed the backyard patio and plantings.
