Linden Hills Addition + Renovation
A newly married couple wanted to create a home of their own. The house was built in 1919 and had a goofy one level addition in 1971. Fortunately the space was there- just in the wrong configuration.
Awad + Koontz’s design preserved the footprint of the addition and expanded it to a second story. Kitchen, Mudroom and Half Bath were all relocated within a new open floor plan. Lots of big multi pane windows provide ample daylight and connection to the landscaped back yard. The renovation creates spaces that are great for parties as well as daily living.
The kitchen was divided into cooking, cleaning and overflow zones, each lined with white marble countertops.
Upstairs the new space has a luxurious master bedroom.
The master bath has large multi shaded tiles, a large shower and soaking tub.
Rich walnut cabinetry at the island provides a warm contrast to the cool trim, stone and appliances.
