Awad & Koontz Architects Builders was incorporated in 1997, but the story begins several years earlier…

Jim and Ali were neighbors and good friends. Jim was working for a large corporation, but not finding fulfillment, he went to work for a custom home builder. After a couple years, he started his own custom construction and remodeling business. At the same time, Ali was working in an institutional architectural firm and moonlighting as a residential architect.

Jim and Ali (and their wives) spent countless evenings walking the dogs and talking about houses. Soon, they were walking the babies and talking about houses. Then, they were watching the kids play and talking about houses.

Ali started to design projects for Jim. Jim got so busy that he needed a partner, and the rest is history.
